You admire me?
Because I spoke up for myself?
Honey that's only partly true
I spoke for us all
Beautiful black girls with suckling babies
Ripped and sold from their chests
Women buried in ash at Vesuvius
Immortalized forever shielding their children
Women and children gassed at Auschwitz
Not really expecting a shower at all
Poor welfare mama
Who's only got three dollars for December
Rich white lady staring at a big diamond ring
Her husband sleeping in her bed with someone else

Oh, honey, I speak for us all
Because ain't we all a woman?
