Ramblings of a MadMan

        by Kelly Larsen

        Traveling inward...
        Stripping away layer upon layer
        From a heart surrounded by
        Poison; ready to Corrode and
        Tensions of Life
        ...A treacherous descent.

        Reaching murky, abysmal finality within.
        A void begun by callousness--
        Caused by insensitivity--
        Slowly gnawing at the
        Naked radiance,
        Leaving an individual filled with
        Blight:
        Calm, lucid exterior;
        Strong, burning black anger within.

        Watching disaster and pestilence,
        Denial of basic freedoms,
        The scourges of
        Poverty, Disease, Ignorance,
        Becoming stronger each day.
No Power caring to step forward
        To help.

How long can this last before
Humanity sinks in to the bowels
        Of barbarism?
        Every minute another Light
        Extinguished through death
        Or defeat.

        Primal ferocity growing like a
        Virus.
        Science--Medicine
        Cannot stop it!
        Compassion and Understanding
        Have been forgotten.
        Can they be recovered
        Before Savageness explodes;
        Leaving bones and battlefields
        As a bittersweet testimony of
        our Arrogance?
